The Right Time to Send Out Save the Date Cards

Whether you’re planning an all out destination wedding or a small intimate gathering, it’s important to send out Save the Date cards to increase your attendance rate. They are especially important if you are planning a destination or holiday wedding. Our recommendation is to send them for any wedding because they give guests ample time to mark their calendar and plan accordingly.

Save the Date cards can be mailed up to one year in advance of your wedding and should mention that an invitation will follow. Proper etiquette requires that every Save the Date card recipient receives an invitation and vice versa; therefore, be mindful if you have to limit your guest list at any time during the planning process.

What information do I include on my Save the Date card?
Your Save the Date card should include basic information, such as your names, wedding date, and the location.

Should they match the invitation?
You can opt for your Save the Date card to match your invitations, but it is not necessary. You can always do something fun and on the lighter side.
