Wedding Response Card FAQS

All of the elements to a wedding response card can be overwhelming! At The Petite Acorn, we are here to help you every step of the way. Read below to learn how to create the proper wedding response card. Also, you can browse some of our traditional wedding invitations to give you some ideas and start your journey.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Your Wedding Response Card

    • Don’t put the bride and grooms name together in print until after the wedding. Even if you live together, the response cards should be addressed to the bride only.
    • You should include an RSVP deadline.
      • This will help you with your planning needs. It’s safe to make the deadline no more than three weeks before your wedding.
    • Encourage guests to respond in a timely manner by making it convenient for them.
      • Pre-print your name and address on the front of the RSVP card envelope. Traditionally, the host’s name and address should appear here. This may not apply to you, so use your own discretion to determine the appropriate response label.
    • Keep track of wedding invitation responses without the need to read illegible handwriting by placing a number on the back of each response card, which corresponds to your guest list.

      • When the response is returned, match the number on the back of the card to the number next to the name on your guest list.
    • If you do not receive a reply from your guest within the designated time- frame, politely call them to make sure they had received the invitation.
      • If you don’t feel comfortable doing so, assume they’re coming. It is better to have an empty seat at your wedding than a guest with no place to sit.
