How to Properly Stuff Your Wedding Invitation Envelope

All of the elements to a wedding invitation can be overwhelming! At The Petite Acorn, we are here to help you every step of the way. Read below to learn how to stuff your wedding invitation envelope. Also, you can browse some of our traditional wedding invitations to give you some ideas and start your journey.

Depending on the wedding invitation style you choose, there is a customary way to stuff the envelopes. Here is the order:

  1. Invitation: place this at the bottom of the ensemble as it is the largest piece.
  2. Any Extra Enclosures (reception cards, maps, etc.): place these directly on top of the wedding invitation.
  3. Response Card: place this on top of the extra enclosures. Tuck it under the flap of it’s stamped and addressed envelope.
  4. Inner Envelope: this should contain the entire invitation and enclosure ensemble. All wording should be facing up and toward the opening of the envelope so that it’s immediately visible upon opening.
  5. Outer Envelope: This is the outer piece that contains pieces 1-4. The guest’s names (written on the front of the inner envelope) should face the back of the outer envelope so that guests’ names are seen first when the envelope is opened.

How much will it cost to mail my invitations?
You never know how much your mailing will cost until you take a complete invitation, containing all enclosures, to the post office. They’ll weigh it and advise you of a price for first-class mailing. Don’t run the risk of having all of your invitations returned because of a postage error.
